My students need Chromebooks and USB flashdrives for researching current, real-world events and comparing them to literary works.

My students live in a high poverty rural area and it takes them at least 45 minutes to get to school every day because the buses are limited. Many of the students are being raised by family members such as a grandmother, aunt, cousin, etc. My students really look forward to being away from home because it gives them a chance to escape some of the hardships that they have to face. The students have very high hopes of obtaining quality education in order to be successful outside of the poverty level.
This high school is one of the more culturally diverse schools in the district.
We have a mixture of different races and religions and students love to organize events themselves. Our school has minimum activities or extra-curricular activities, so the teachers provide a lot of the extra for the students.
Research is becoming a major part of the world. In English there is a lot of literary projects that require in-depth research and writing.
My students need Chromebooks and USB flash drives to research real- world events with literature because integrating both gives students a better perspective on learning.
By donating to this project, my students can keep up with the constant changes that are happening around them.
Literature requires background knowledge and my students lack the background knowledge needed to connect the dots with the text being read- This is where the research begins. Students will have a broader understanding of the literature if they can research the materials and literary elements included in the text.
