This year our science leaders would like all the science students to have a composition notebook to record their data. However, they are not purchasing them. I would like the several classes I teach to have a composition notebook not only because the State Science department encourages it, but also because students need to learn how to organize their science notes in a way that they know where their studies and observations are at any given moment. Some students lose their experiments because the paper fell out of their folder. The students also need to learn that writing down their investigations and responses of what is going on around them is a part of being a scientist. Learning how to become a scientist is to practice the work of a scientist. The composition notebooks are black and white notebooks with about 80 pages in them. Each student will receive four books. The students will use the composition notebooks to: draw their observations, graph statistics, write the questions they have for a specific topic, how they are going to experiment to find an answer to the question, write down the materials they are going to use, write down the procedures, write down the specific steps they are going to follow, write down the results of the experiment, write down their analysis of the results of the experiment, and finally write down their conclusions to their results. We will need four hundred and eighty books to complete our physical and life science concepts. Thank you ever so much.
