Help me give my students colored visuals produced by the printer and laminators, to increase success, and to foster independence at job sites and when participating in simulated vocational activities.

My Project

We are job developers for students with special needs, ages 18-22, enrolled in a Transition Program in San Diego County. The students primarily work on vocational skills, career exploration, mobility, and functional life skills throughout their school day. The students participate in vocational experiences in the community in which they live and also on their school campus. These training periods benefit our students by providing them varied career experiences, skill building, participation in a productive activity, and increased self-esteem.

The funds raised will provide the equipment needed to produce colored visuals and accommodations, which will foster independence at job sites and simulated vocational tasks.

Evidence has shown an 80% increase in comprehension when colored visuals are provided. This project will support and enhance many functional life skills currently being worked on and will support student IEP goals as well. The skills students participate in at their job sites and on campus, are highly transferable to their personal lives, in addition to the workforce.
