This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our classroom, we use art as a way to explore and celebrate diversity and inclusion. To help my 2nd graders express themselves and honor the unique cultures and backgrounds in our community, we need skin-color and metallic colored pencils, glitter crayons, and glitter gel pens in a full range of skin tones and vibrant colors.
I want to provide my students the opportunity to tell their stories through art, build empathy for others, and understand the beauty of our diverse world.
These tools will allow my students to create meaningful projects during Black History Month, AAPINH Heritage Month, Hispanic Heritage Month, and more. From self-portraits to cultural symbols and community murals, having access to the right colors helps every child feel seen and valued.
