My students come to Art once a week and light up at the thought of what we might do. They absolutely love coming to art to the point where I have received letters thanking me for what I have taught them. Each child has their own special spark and when I don’t have the supplies, I feel like part of that spark is lost. Children make the most amazing Art since they have not been taught the limits of what a medium can do.
It’s amazing how my students can walk in with a terrible mood and Art just turns it into a smile.
They are then able to focus for the rest of the day.
My Project
Middle school students are taught to explore the standards in ways that interests them. I am giving them the opportunity to explore different mediums and figure out how to solve problems as they go. They will learn how to construct something out of wire and how to finish a piece of ceramics. These are some basic problems they will run into, but many of my students are creative and will want to explore new ways of creating art.
Every child is creative, but as adults, we loose the creativity by being told that you can't do it.
I want my students to explore how things are possible.
