This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I am blessed with the opportunity to teach Kindergarten at a Title 1 school. The school that I teach at has a heightened English Language Learner population and most students have very little exposure to the English language prior to entering school for the first time. The high poverty in the area lends most families to be transient and under-prepared for their regular school day. Despite all of these hardships my students are eager to learn and excited to be a part of a loving class family!
The group of students that I work with are rapidly growing and adjusting to their school life each and every day.
These students demonstrate expressed needs in hands on tools and manipulatives, touch screen technology, basic small and whole group instructional tools and books to read, read, READ!
My Project
These project materials will ensure we have enough supplies to paint our way right through the entire Kindergarten year! From alphabet painting activities to projects to send home as gifts, this diverse selection of paints will help color our worlds. The crayons sometimes quit and painting provides little learners the opportunity to express a wider range of emotion as well as artistic ability. Painting provides students the ability to step outside of their known comfort zones and try a new kinesthetic skill that masks the fact that they are learning at all! From reading and writing to math and science the possibilities are endless with paint.
