This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach 9th grade Health and am hoping to purchase a colorful paper journal for each of my students next year. Our young students are working hard to develop positive mental health habits. Daily journaling is one way for students to grow these skills, and these beautiful journals encourage thoughtful reflection.
We spend the first 15-20 minutes of each class responding to a journal prompt designed to promote mental health, wellness, and reflective thinking.
Through this process, students may also explore their personal, family, and community values as they relate to our content material. In addition to these beautiful paper journals, I plan to provide colorful pens, markers, stamps, etc. to encourage screen-free self-expression and rest.
Past students have shared with me that the development of a daily journaling habit has been refreshing, or even healing for them, and I encourage students to continue the practice after the conclusion of our class and beyond. Thank you for considering our project; we so appreciate your support!
