Colorful Learning with Life Lessons

My project needs one 4x12 mountable, magnetic dry erase board to enhance student learning experiences.

I currently teach third grade in a small rural school district with a focus on mathematics, English/language arts, social studies, science, and character education. The district is primarily agriculture based with limited resources. The closest metropolitan area is over one hour away. The obstacle I currently face is I am trying to teach my students to be constantly aware of the environment, but I am unable to model some of the practices I preach due to a lack of equipment. For example, I try to encourage them to recycle paper, use paper wisely, basically teach them the values of protecting our earth. This is difficult to model when I use an enormous amount of chart paper so that I can present my lessons in color. I do have a chalkboard but often, colored chalk is too difficult for them to see. A magnetic dry erase board would allow me to present my lessons with the same, if not better visual capacity as the chalkboard and chart paper while reinforcing the idea of helping to protect our environment. I strongly believe that to provide my students with a more enriching education as well as lessons that can last with them for a lifetime, a dry erase board is necessary. After all, modeling the practices we preach are essential to all learners. By providing my students with this equipment, not only will you help them further realize how important it is to protect our earth but you will assist them in having more enriching learning experiences.
