This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach kindergarten to 24 of the sweetest, most loving, caring, and smartest 5-year-old kids. They love coming to school to learn and to be part of something special. I strive each day to make each day the best ever.

My favorite thing about teaching kindergarten is that every day is a new day, and they are so full of wonder!

I've taught at the same school for the past twenty-four years, and it is the same school I attended as a child.

Every year I am given the best class, and this year is no exception! I call them my Rockstars, and I hope that they know how much I love having them in my class!

My Project

Just recently I took out our markers that had been stored away for almost 2 years due to COVID-19. Sadly, we discovered that more than 50% of the markers had dried out. We were still able to use what we had left but we were limited in colors. My project is to replenish those markers so the students will have more variety to use during art lessons. I am also requesting a class set so that we can be safe during COVID-19 and not share materials. We also need disposable masks for our classroom use and to keep us safe.

Kindergarten is the best grade!

The students come to class to learn and for so many, this is their first experience in Kindergarten. Last week when we used the old markers and we were cleaning up, one of my students looked up at me and said, "Thank you teacher for letting us use the markers. It was fun!" At that moment I knew I need to get them new markers and that is why it is my hope to get this project funded for my students.
