I teach middle school special education and flexible seating, earphones and a refrigerator will make a difference in the learning and academic environment of the classroom. I work at a lower income school so many of my students do not have materials necessary to do their school work.
We are in need of several stools for flexible seating in my classroom.
We are asking for stools so students can reduce transition time moving to their small group activities and one-to-one tutoring. The flexible seating will help with management as well as these stools will give comfort and felexibility to those students that need to move a little in class which will get them to become more engaged in the lessons being taught which encourage retention of the materials learned.
A personal set of earphones for testing as many of our district tests have a read aloud options and the earphones will allow student who have trouble reading be able to hear the test questions being read on their laptops.
We are also asking for a 18 cubic refrigerator with top freezer to help this classroom with breakfast and lunch unwanted items. The school which I teach at is a title one so most of my students are on free or reduced breakfast and lunches. Sometimes these are the only meals these kids get, so having a full size refrigerator in my program will help with storage of milk, juices, fruits and bagged items students will be able to take home with them or eat later during the day. In my classroom we teach recycle and not waste so helping my student understand that sharing an item that they are throwing away to another student is a gift in itself that goes along way to help nurious our students
