Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The students who are in my classroom live in a very poor area of the inner city. Our school is a Title I school, so all of our students qualify for free lunches. Keeping these hardships in mind, our students and parents are some of the most wonderful people I have ever worked with.
They are caring and full of life.
For some of my students, I am the only thing that remains constant in their lives. A lot of my students come from shelters or single parent families with lots of siblings. Although my school is a Title I school, I have never felt more loved than I do with the students I teach, or more rewarded.
My Project
Within this project I am asking for materials that will not only benefit this years class of students, but also many years of students to come. As teachers we are expected to provide a warm/content rich learning environment for our students. These students spend the majority of their waking hours in this space, so it is important to make it welcoming to their individual spirits. Through this project I plan on using a cricut machine to create classroom centers. I also plan on using it to create labels for students to easily organize/find their materials. I will also be using it to create educational math/reading/writing/science and social-emotional posters/content. The laminating sheets will help to protect this work in order to reuse it from year to year.
