This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
Imagine starting a day of work with out a comfortable and clean space to do so. In Kindergarten, 90% of the day activities are done sitting on a carpet in front of the board.
My students are Kindergarten children who attend a school where 100% qualify for assisted meals at school.
They are eager learners and have shown motivation by entering the dual language program. The program intends to make fluent speakers and readers in Spanish and English. For most, this is their first year in school and would be further motivated to learn if they can come to an inviting and inspiring room environment. The carpet we have now is old, dirty and plain.
My Project
A carpet that is colorful and offers interaction will be a great asset to the classroom. Since 90% of the school day happens while they are sitting on the carpet, I would like to have one that offers practice and interaction to support the students learning. My students are in the dual language program and will benefit from the use of this carpet because it offers numbers and vocabulary practice in English as well as in Spanish.
Your donation will also benefit my students by assisting them to transition faster and without confusion between activities, because they will have assigned places and will not have to fight about where to sit.
