Colorful & Collaborative Art in the Library Media Center!

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our students love to learn, they love to develop and apply new skills, and they are resilient. We are an urban, low-income district, and our families are mostly hardworking immigrant families, many of whom speak a language other than English at home.
Students love to work together to learn and create in our library media center, and these jumbo sticker mosaics and coloring posters are the perfect activity for students to collaborate on for a shared art experience!
We usually have a coloring station which students love - even if I have it set up for younger students, the older kids always ask if they can participate when they come to check out books! These jumbo-sized coloring posters and giant paint-by-sticker mosaics will be very motivating for students to work on, and encourage them to come to the library more often! Once they are completed, the artwork will be a colorful display in our space!
Any tools and resources that motivate students are valuable to have in a collaborative learning space like our Library Media Center.
Our amazing elementary complex library serves 2000+ students in four schools, and as I continue to cultivate it into a 21st century library media center and learning hub where students can collaborate and learn, I am constantly working to update the materials and resources that students are accessing!
