My students need access to high quality, durable, and colorful printed graphs and charts. Whether studying math operations with decimals or the way prefixes work within words, visual devices help solidify content.

My Students
My students love learning, but sometimes need a little extra input in order to fully grasp concepts. When we were recently studying multiplying and dividing decimals, my students were confused until they were shown a color coded place value chart. Once they could see a concrete model of how the decimal point moves in different directions based on multiplication or division, they were better able to solve the problems. It was almost like I could see the light bulbs going on inside their brains.
"I just had an a-ha moment!" Hearing that quote from one of my sixth graders while studying math this week was music to my ears.
I often think the best part of being a teacher is being part of these discovery moments with my students.
My Project
Delivering abstract content to students in the upper elementary and middle school grades can be a challenge. Moving from concrete models to abstract concepts can be confusing for students, especially students with processing difficulties, or those who need more concrete representations of what's being taught.
Visual devices can make all the difference for students grappling with understanding difficult concepts.
With a color printer and card stock paper, I can create color coded graphs and charts to aid in delivering powerful graphic organizers for abstract concepts like reducing fractions, finding the greatest common factor, and using word parts to discover meaning within text.
