My students need a carpet that we will use as a general meeting and learning location. The colors will help them with location and learning their colors.

My Students
Do you remember circle time in elementary school? That's were most learned their ABC's and 123's. The real reading instruction happens on the carpet. Let's make circle time more enjoyable with a colorful carpet to sit on while we learn our colors also.
30 urban city children from a variety of ethnic backgrounds come together to make up this Kindergarten classroom.
Our elementary is located in Pennsylvania. Our students have a variety of academic needs and abilities. They love learning working and learning with technology (I think this reminds them of their video games)
My Project
Kindergarten is where everything is new and as the teacher it is my job to make everything as simple as possible so that learning takes place. Classroom carpets are a very important part of the education process in kindergarten. The carpet is our general meeting place; it is the location for whole class instruction on reading, writing and math. It is the area where I have all of my student's attention. The multiple colors allow for the carpet to also be a behavior management tool. I do this by assigning seats on specific colors which also helps with color recognition. The carpet is the most active part of our learning community.
This project will help me because my old rug was destroyed and my school does not have the funds to replace the discarded rug.
The students last year found it hard following whole group instruction sitting at their tables. The carpet will give my children the chance to relax instead of the formality of sitting in chairs at tables.
Nearly all students from low‑income households
