Colorful and Calming: Sensory Tools for High Schoolers

My Project

As a person who struggles with attention issues, I use Thinking Putty and other fidget items in my personal life. My eleventh-graders saw me using my sensory tools and asked to use them as well. I started purchasing a few items for my students to share, but costs add up quickly, and my ultimate goal is to provide each of my students with their own sensory item to use during the school day.

ADHD and other attention-related issues have been increasingly prevalent in adolescents.

Using Thinking Putty and Needoh are my students' favorite way to help them stay focused and keep their hands occupied so their brain can take a break. High schoolers can sometimes be overlooked when it comes to "extras" like sensory tools, but the reality is that they need them just as much as the littles.

I am constantly working to create a peaceful, relaxed environment where my students feel comfortable being themselves. Atmosphere is important -- and I hope you will help me continue creating that safe space for my students to focus and learn.
