My Students

I teach in a high poverty school in a Moderate and Severe Disabilities (MSD) self-contained classroom. My students have various disabilities (e.g., autism, Down syndrome, intellectual disabilities) that create difficulties in their daily lives. Despite many hardships, my students come to school ready to learn each day.

My students require a lot of educational supports but are capable of so much, and they are working hard each day to find new and creative ways to learn academic standards and daily life skills.

My students love to dance, sing, go outside, and play on the computer.

My Project

This project is so important for my students. This will provide my students with colored ink in the classroom. This means so many different things for my class. It means colored visual prompts.

Providing my students with visual prompts in color makes them more realistic and easy to understand for my students.

This makes it easier for my students to generalize the skills they are learning in the classroom to different environments. It allows my students with visual impairments to more clearly see and understand what it is we are learning and trying to understand. It also helps to keep my students more engaged in their materials.
