I am going back to my roots in first grade. YAY! I am so excited to keep our learning momentum going with my sweet first graders. I teach in a Title I school housed by a majority of minority English as a Second Language students.

This will be my second year teaching at this school and my eight year teaching overall. I am please to say that I am working with a group of 20 firsties!! I can not wait to get in the classroom and work with this new bunch of excited learners. In the fall of 2018 our town was devastated by Hurricane Florence, many of students (who already come from struggling homes) lost many of their belonging in the storm. We, as a community have stepped up to try and bring normality back into the lives of each of our students. One way to do this is by providing a welcoming environment for students to come every day to learn.
My Project
I am asking for support to purchase ink for my personal printer that I use in the classroom. At our school we do not have access to colored ink. I would use the ink to make learning notebooks, centers, anchor charts, and much more! Many of the topics we covered come to life when colored ink is used. It may seem like a small ask, but makes a huge difference for the students.
The following is an example of how the supplies will be used.
We are beginning a unit of study on birds. To help students observe the details on birds we will be making science notebooks with pictures of different types of birds. The students are required to use these details to compare and contrast. However, this is very difficult to do when there is no colored printer for the pictures.
