This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I work in an ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching) classroom where special education students learn alongside their peers. Our students come from all around the world. The majority or our population are immigrants whose families came to this country for a better life. Our students come from different academic and socio-economic backgrounds and perform on varied academic levels. They come from low-income households and have unique learning needs in the class. They often find it difficult to meet the expectations and rigor in the classroom but they come to school every day eager to learn.
A new printer will give us the materials to create engaging learning opportunities for my students and colorful visuals around the classroom.
In order for the curriculum to be accessible, we often provide scaffolds and added supports. Although we try to anticipate places within the lesson where students may need these supports, there are times within the lesson when the opportunity arises in which it would be helpful to print something to facilitate with learning in the moment. With a classroom color printer, I would have the opportunity to print these resources in real time as they are needed and when the opportunities present themselves.
