This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from a variety of diverse backgrounds. I have second-language learners, native English speakers, autistic students, struggling readers, avid readers, ADD and ADHD students, and students from low and middle-class families.

At my school, we believe in "no excuses!" My students know that wherever they come from, has little bearing on where they're going.

It is up to them and the choices they make to help them succeed. We have high academic and behavior expectations and they rise to meet the challenges set before them.

My Project

My students love school and part of that is because we often use art as a creative outlet for our emotions. When they can express themselves through their art, they become less anxious and more willing to become part of our school community. It's a therapeutic relief for them to be able to make beautiful creations that brighten the world and ease their angst.

Your generous donation will help give my students the basic tools to express themselves through watercolors.

The art we do in class is sometimes inspired by the works of famous artists and sometimes it's a Pinterest project or a freeform painting session. It's my goal for students to use these paints in their expression of creativity several times a month.

These beautiful children communicate through their art, whether deliberate or unintentional, and the things they create are revelations of their true being. Through the simple act of painting, they can impart their feelings and generate a unique masterpiece.
