My students work hard to demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways. I enjoy allowing them to share their knowledge and demonstrate their creativity through art projects. Increasing the art supplies they have available to them would enrich their learning experiences.
We complete self portraits and learn about diverse influential people throughout the school year; unfortunately, the standard pack of crayons and colored pencils that students usually bring to school have very limited options to choose from for skin tones, but with Colors of the World art supplies, students would be able to accurately represent themselves and others in their artwork.
We would use the Color of the World art supplies whenever we are drawing people, use the watercolors and watercolor paper for a special Martin Luther King, Jr. project, and use the containers and zipper pouches to keep all of our supplies organized and in good condition so they can be used for years to come. Through making art and using these supplies, students will feel represented in their artwork and develop self-awareness, while also gaining empathy and kindness for others. Students will feel that their-as well as everyone’s-voice, story and creativity matter. Please help me provide my students with these artistic opportunities!
