Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are an inclusive group of both general education students and special education students who have a range of needs and learning styles. My students are eager second-grade learners who love school!

Being in and out of school this past year has really taken a toll on them, especially socially and emotionally.

My Project

I am so lucky to work with such an amazing, creative, thoughtful, and diverse group of students! With this project, I want to see a representation of my students' own unique and beautiful skin tones in our classroom materials.

I am requesting crayons, paint markers, kick bands, and two class sets of new mentor texts to represent and match the diversity in my classroom.

Celebrating diversity is so important! The Crayola skin tone crayons and the Kwix Stix paint markers will make a huge difference in my students' learning, by providing them with the materials that they need to represent their own unique and diverse identities. I want my students to be able to have access to many different skin tones so that all students feel seen and represented in their drawings, and classwork.

In addition, I also want my students to be seen in the books that they read! The Ellray Jakes series is an amazing fiction series that allows students to connect to the main character through his various diversities.

I truly believe in celebrating diversity inside our classrooms, and appreciate your support for making this all possible!
