Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have a classroom full of wonderful and amazing children. Our class consists of multi-level learners. They are a diverse group of kids ranging from English Language Learners to Special Education children. Our school is a Title I school and the majority of my students come from low-income families. Most students live in single parent homes and have a very stressful living situation.
These students love running and playing with their friends outside during recess.
We enjoy seeing these kids happy and forgetting about their worries they may have at home, even if it is for a short amount of time.
My Project
Our school will be setting up different activities for our students to enjoy a day of hanging out with their friends and families. One of our activities includes a fun color run. Many students do not get to participate in color runs due to their financial situations. The color powder we plan on using is what makes this run exciting for them! We need a set of 5 colors and a color powder party box for our event. We hope to create a fun and exciting day for them.
This activity is sure to entertain them and create great memories with their teachers, peers, and families.
This activity also promotes physical fitness while enjoying the work out. These materials will make a difference in my student’s learning by making school a little more enjoyable. Kids learn best when they are happy and healthy.
