Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
In our Ethnic Studies class, we do many studies of crucial photojournalism (and the key role it has played throughout the Civil Rights era, the Vietnam War era, and many other historical moments). Additionally, we also study quite a number of art pieces for which color plays a pivotal role. While I can and do project these images on the screen, I find that students engage even more thoroughly with the material when they are able to touch and hold the images and do a more thorough examination of them. Having images printed in color helps support learners of all types - many of whom experience exhaustion from looking at screens all day, and would thereby benefit from looking at the images while holding them.
Moreover, we also create a great deal of art in my class; having a color printer would help us create even better collages that better reflect them and their artistic expression!
