Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Our students are amazing, smart, and curious kids with special needs. They are between the ages of 5 and 11. Students with different skills and personalities are in our classroom. Our students are learning and getting better at what they can do.

Most of the students have Autism, Learnig Disability, Developmental Delay, Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and others have very challenging speech problems.

Our kids are very active and love to learn through activities that use all of their senses. We use technology to help our students daily, and they love reading, writing, coloring, and making things.

To learn and understand, all of my students require visual aids. Picture schedules, task-oriented visual schedules, incentive folders, and picture symbols are examples of these visuals. When these visuals are printed in color, they are the most valuable and beneficial support to the students. The ability to print my materials in color right in my own classroom would greatly simplify the process and make things easier and more accessible for all students. Since many of my students are on the autism spectrum, they are visual learners who require multiple schedules to complete daily tasks.
