Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Every morning we start our day with correcting sentences as morning work. Once they finish they are able to explore a variety of reading and math activities while I meet with select students for RTI.

Our school is 97% on free and reduced price lunch, and every student is offered free breakfast every morning before going to class.

We have a predominantly Hispanic population, and students come to school with no English background. The students are very sweet and come to school ready and wanting to learn everyday. They are truly a wonderful group of students to work with.

My Project

We currently have one community printer that over ten teachers are connected to. With so many teachers using one printer, materials get delayed. When having a community printer, we run out of paper a lot due to the amount of printing that is backed up. Also, with the amount of teachers printing, the ink runs out frequently and it can take weeks to replace. If we had our own classroom printer, students will be able to have all there materials in a timely fashion. The school printer also prints only in black. From the classroom decorations to the activities we complete, our room needs color ink. Our classroom has a lot of interactive word work activities that I print out and laminate. With a classroom printer, students will be able to have their work in color and have it more appealing. Our posters, math word wall, and reading stations all require color ink. Having a printer in the classroom will save a lot of time and paper and will maximize our activities within the classroom.

Having a classroom printer will help students gain access to all their materials right in their hands.

RTI requires multiple strategies and data, and having a printer available can help with all RTI materials. The same goes for flexible small groups. They require multiple activities for multiple groups; the printer can bring a variety of actives in a short notice to students. Our classroom environment will also benefit by having a bright appealing classroom.
