I teach in a very small town in Georgia. Our school serves students in grades kindergarten through second. Our school is also a Title I school with 100% of the students receiving free breakfast and lunch.
The majority of my students live below the poverty line and lack the basic necessities at home.
Despite living in unfortunate conditions, my students come to school happy, energetic, and ready to learn.
My kindergarten students are very creative and always try their best.
My Project
I have a 1:1 iPad class. That means every student in my class is assigned an iPad. We do all types of learning through the iPad. My favorite thing to do with the students is for them to "show me what they know." Instead of boring pencil and paper assessment my kindergarten students create projects through different apps to express what he/she has learned. Yes, you heard me right, KINDERGARTEN students are able to create and publish projects on the iPad independently. :) :)
Seeing the smile of accomplishment on these students faces are priceless.
The only down fall is that the projects need to be printed in color. Due to lack of funding, there is no color printer in our school. Printing their project in color will make them even more proud of their hard work. My students need a color printer and ink to display all of the projects they make on their iPads.
