My Students
Each time we start a new activity, I tell my students to "Show me ready!' The children in my classroom ARE ready to learn. They are an eager bunch of young learners. We don't always have all of the supplies we need, but our enthusiasm makes up for it.
My children are mostly new to this country, with very little educational support from home.
We try to make every hour of the school day count. My students are eager to learn and to try new things. They are encouraged to be risk takers.
Our school encourages a sense of community. The children often work in small groups. They are encouraged to help each other with peer editing and conferencing.
My Project
We are trying to adopt a new writing program in our building. One of the aspects of this program is having each paragraph written in a different color. Using the different colors will help the children to organize their ideas and physically see the structure of a writing piece.
Donations to this project will help my children to improve their writing skills.
It will also help to improve their self-esteem. Knowing that their are people in the world who care about them and want them to succeed, will help them to feel more confident in their own abilities and self-worth.
