This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

One vivid memory I have growing up is writing reports for school? I remember how proud I was of my decorated reports complete with diagrams, photos, and color pictures. I want my students to feel the pride of creating reports and projects in a beautiful and colorful way. Help us to Color Our World!

I provide special education services to some amazing students in grades 1-4.

These students have a variety of needs including learning disabilities, speech and language impairments, autism, and severe cognitive impairments, to name a few. They face many challenges and require different modes of instruction in order for them to gain access to an education. Many are English Language Learners. Our school is located in a large urban city in CT. I have the rare opportunity of turning these students on to learning. It is a privilege to work with these special students who are near and dear to me. My students deserve the best the world has to give them. My hope is to provide activities and lessons that will teach them the necessary skills to succeed in life!

My Project

These materials are perfect because they will allow the students to make their research based reports more visually appealing, engaging, and comprehensible. The color printer will allow the students to print color pictures, diagrams and pictures that will support their writing. It will also provide visual supports to the students to help them retain facts about their reports and projects. The photo paper will encourage the students to add photographs to their reports. They will be encouraged to take photos during our field trips that correspond with many of the themes and topics that we study. The materials in this project will help the students to create beautiful projects and reports. This will enhance their learning and motivate them to do their best. Our students will learn skills such as writing, describing, and adding visual supports to their projects making them more appealing! I hope to combine research, writing, photography, and fun utilizing these materials.

Students with special needs face challenges making it difficult to understand and relate to what they learn in school.

Many of my students are turned off by school because they haven't had much success. Alternative methods and materials allow students to demonstrate what they know in a creative and beautiful way!
