This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students come from very diverse backgrounds, representing many cultures. Our families are considered high-poverty so it's difficult to ask families for extra materials needed for our students in our classrooms. Most families are very supportive and enjoy participating in the after-school activities we offer.

Our school supplies are often lacking, so I often spend a lot of my own personal money on classroom materials because I don't want my students to be without the necessary materials to keep them organized and prepared for school.

My Project

This will be the first year of school my students will complete in-person due to Covid closures and quarantines. They have been working so hard this year trying to improve themselves and their work. I want to brighten their days and their art work by providing them with different materials to decorate their books and stories.

Our class contains many authors who are waiting to be discovered.

They enjoy writing, and they love to draw and add illustrations to their stories. They'll be able to decorate and color their illustrations with colored markers and pencils. We'll also be able to use the paint sticks to decorate book covers to entice their readers to select their book. They'll also be able to use the art materials for Spring projects and gifts.
