This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Our school serves students in grades Pre-K through fifth. My school is located in an area of Arkansas that could be considered in need of repairs. More than ninety percent of our students participate in a free or reduced-rate lunch program. Our students may be financially disadvantaged but they love to learn!
I am always looking for ways to help bring exciting new materials into the classroom.
My students have limited experiences, so projects like these help make learning come to life.
My Project
My students are the best and they deserve the best in life. We are learning so much so quickly in Kindergarten, so it helps when the students can see color pictures of the subjects we are discussing. For example, in our plants and animals unit, it would be helpful to have picture cards that show different animal groups, different habitats, etc. It would also be helpful to be able to print out other learning tools like number lines, hundreds charts, etc. for learning about money, addition, subtraction, etc. That is why I am requesting toner refills for my color printer.
More than half of my students are English Language Learners and they learn best when they have access to images that will help them acquire new vocabulary.
