I am lucky enough to teach in a classroom that is primarily for students on the Autism Spectrum. These students benefit from having a setting that is set up to support their own specific needs, such as predictability, social skills support, and individualized instruction.
Our classroom is a place where our students can learn skills needed to be successful in general education, while also getting the supports they need.
We encourage students to grow socially and academically. We love learning!
My Project
My students in my classroom are surrounded by a world of sensory inputs and they are learning how to self regulate their bodies in order to help maintain focus during academic breaks.
Sensory breaks are vital in my classroom for student success.
Students take sensory and self regulation breaks during and after each academic period in order to give themselves a chance to reset and get ready to focus.
Coloring and drawing is the one sensory break my students rely on. The students in my class are creative and have an amazing imagination. They use coloring and drawing as a way to own in on how their bodies are feeling and to get out all the ideas they are thinking.
If you find it in your heart to donate to this project, it will impact them for their entire school year. Thank you so much for considering this project.
