Color Our World: Welcoming Newcomers & Celebrating Diversity
Help me give my students art alcohol markers, sets of Crayola Colors of the World pencils and markers and cultural coloring books to celebrate their diversity!
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Our campus is home to a vibrant and diverse student population. Each year, we welcome newcomer students from different countries and cultures. Each student brings something unique to my classroom, and I hope to make them feel welcomed and represented.
Art has the unique ability to bring students together, despite language barriers.
When a new student joins the class, they can follow visual clues and begin to feel comfortable in a new environment while exploring their creativity.
I would love to provide a variety of mindful activities to help my newcomer students relax and feel at home in my art classroom. By providing a variety of identity affirming coloring books and sets of Crayola Color Your World pencils and markers, I can help all of my students know that I care about their well-being and celebrate their diversity.
