Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have an awesome group of 4 year old students!! But, my students come from a very low socio-economic background. For the majority of them, I am the only positive influence in their young lives. Their only learning comes from my classroom. 85% of my students are on the free breakfast/lunch program and receive the backpack filled with food items on Fridays so they will have food to eat during the weekend.
Some of the parents of my students are incarcerated, and therefore have no contact with their child.
While enduring some of life's greatest setbacks and challenges, they come to school with big, bright smiles on their cute little faces ready to take on the the world with what they will learn each day!! Their excitement excites me!!!
My Project
So many of our lessons are taught in a group sitting on the floor. This carpet will allow each student to have their own individual space while participating in the fun lessons daily. This carpet will be used many times thru out the day, and many years to come!
Our students will be able to see the teacher at all times while engaging in the story, activity, with a partner and a calm down space as well, if needed.
Each student will have a special place to call their own during our class gathering each and every day in PreK!
