Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Our inclusion classroom is full of curious, energetic learners who are eager to grow as readers and writers. They thrive when given hands-on, interactive tools that bring their thinking to life. Many of our students benefit from visual and color-coded supports to help them engage with texts and build strong, detailed sentences. These materials seem small, but they surely are mighty. Our school is a Title 1 school where sometimes getting the basic supplies are difficult. This project will help our students get these much needed materials.
To help students develop their reading comprehension and writing skills, I’m requesting highlighters, colored pencils, and pencil pouches.
These tools will allow my students to annotate texts, identify key details, and organize their thoughts visually—making complex tasks like understanding theme, character development, and structure more accessible.
Color-coding also plays a vital role in our writing instruction. Students use different colors to identify and build sentence parts such as subject, predicate, and descriptive phrases. These strategies empower them to write with greater confidence and clarity.
With personal pencil pouches, students will keep their tools organized and ready to use—building independence and responsibility.
Thank you for considering this OWLsome project to bring much needed materials into the hands of our students.
