My Students
This the first year our school has departmentalized for the core subject areas and I am currently teaching reading to the entire 5th grade as well as science and social studies to my official class. Our school is a special place with a rich composition of children from diverse backgrounds, particularly serving a large population of English language learners and students with disabilities. More than fifty percent of our population is financially disadvantaged. We strive to give our kids the quality education they deserve, while still providing exciting educational opportunities.
My Project
Having a color printer in our classroom Will allow our students to print projects, reports, and other inspirational ideas neatly and colorfully. Research has shown that black and white is dull and can actual reduce IQ points whereas reading information that is colored can increase it by 12 points. Our class does a lot of project based learning utilizing google classroom. To show off their hard work they need to print it and display it for others to see. Many of our students do not have access to a printer at home and I’m routinely asked to print their book reports, essays and slideshows. The effort and creativity they put into their graphics isn’t visually displayed when printed in black and white.
More than half of students from low‑income households
