This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Each year we like to make tie-dye T-shirts with our students during our color unit in kindergarten. Students learn color names, how to read and spell color words, and all about primary and secondary colors and shades of colors. At the end of the unit, the students get to make their own tie-dye shirts with colors they know and can spell and some even choose purposely to mix primary colors to see the results! Then the students have shirts to wear for the rest of the school year and until they grow out of their shirts.
It’s a special project and fun memory that lasts for years and also combines science, English language arts, and art!
Did I also mention it's so much fun!
I am requesting some tie-dye kits and white T-shirts to use to color our shirts in the 2025/2026 school year. We have run out of supplies and need more colored dye and shirts. It’s such a fun and special project we hope to be able to continue next school year.
