I am surrounded by resilience and creativity every day. My students inspire me. I am the only counselor in a K-5 school so I keep very busy. My students are very motivated but many struggle with getting basic needs met at home. One-hundred percent of them get free lunch and most of my parents work nights or two jobs to make ends meet. In addition, many do not speak English or very limited English and many are refugees. I deal daily with the kind of problems that stem from not getting basic needs met. In the midst of all this, I help children express themselves in ways that help them to build a core sense of self.
I learned a long time ago that a young child is likely to be more comfortable initially expressing himself with art than he is going to be at expressing emotions and feelings through words.
I stay in at recess and after school trying to keep up with all the needs of my students and after 11 years, I still truly love it.
I would like this printer to give my students a more engaging and enriching learning experience. Can you imagine working on an art project there is no color printer in the classroom? My kids are so creative and they design the most amazing things on Procreate but without a way to print in color and express their true talent.
A printer would allow my students to print their amazing art projects, art journals and graphic novels and have a beautiful piece of art to show their friends and families and keep forever.
