Color My World Beautiful!

Help me give my students the supplies they need to enhance their learning. Colored pencils, markers, card stock, brightly colored paper, and clip boards add color and variety to their work and help to spark creativity and motivation.

My Students

My students are English Language Learners from Lewiston, Maine: their families came here as immigrants or refugees, with hope and enthusiasm for a bright future! Each of them reads below grade level, some at a kindergarten level.

Abraham Lincoln said, "The best way to predict the future is to create it." That is exactly what I want to do for my students: set them up for a future of success!

They love hands-on activities and a fully stocked classroom supports that! Thank you!

My Project

Fresh, new pencils, markers, crayons, and paper, full of bright, beautiful color will inspire my students to reinforce their learning through projects that expand on a book they read, or increase their exposure to new vocabulary and concepts. English Language Learners are behind their peers academically, not because they are incapable of doing the work, but because they lack the skills in English. Learning a second language requires repeated exposure to language, and the more practice they get, the better!

Sometimes expression through art is exactly what a second language learner needs when the words aren't quite there yet!

On top of that, my students love their independence and working on a white board and a clip board, having their "own space," engages them more in their work. Having the right tools to do their job well is also highly motivational.
