My Project

Teenagers! Every day I am privileged to interact with and teach teenagers. They are so full of energy, promise, and hope. They are goofy, and silly, love to joke, and laugh. Some are serious and quite success-oriented. They are active, fun, and self-disclosing. They are filled with emotions and love drama.

However, those adjectives only describe SOME of our teens.

According to the CDC, "In 2021, more than 4 in 10 (42%) students felt persistently sad or hopeless and nearly one-third (29%) experienced poor mental health". This is a concerning statistic, not just for me, but for everyone.

With this assortment of texts, books, and coloring books, I hope to offer ALL the teens in my classes some literature about their mental health and how to improve it. The books address their feelings, identify troubles, and teach them how to seek help. The requested coloring books offer inspirational words as well as the opportunity to settle in and color to relax and have a short time of mental respite from the rigors of high school. The stickers are sheer fun for their water bottles.
