My Students
Hello and thank you for your interest in my DonorsChoose Project! I teach in the NYC school system and this year am teaching 22 sweet and curious kindergartners in a blended learning environment.
A child's classroom is like their second home and I am hoping to make it one they look forward to coming to everyday by using a color printer to brighten up their environment!
Kindergartners take in everything around them. Many are unable to read words but they can sure "read" and learn from pictures. Being able to print pictures in real life color will allow my students, especially my ENL students, to make those real life connections.
My Project
With this color printer I will be able to print center activities in real life color which will insure my students are making connections to the world beyond their classroom.
As many of my students are ENL learners these real life connections are of vital importance to their learning as they are developing their understanding of the English Language.
Engagement is also ramped up when activities are given in color instead of the standard black and white images. My students are learning from home a good part of the time this school year and this printer will allow me to send home activities that reflect our classroom learning environment.
