Help me give my students a creative outlet when feeling anxious by having coloring books and colored pencils available for them to use. These tools were designed to help them relax and reduce feelings of anxiety.
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
I teach at a Middle School. The students that I teach are a great group of children, but they sometimes have to deal with life situations that can be stressful and cause them to become very anxious.
They need coping skills and ways to self-regulate themselves but being middle schoolers they need help from us.
I can help by teaching them to use creative outlets to deal with anxiety such as coloring. Coloring is an activity that can relieve stress, relax the brain, boost confidence, improve the mood, build social skills, and develops patience and perseverance. There are so many positive benefits of using coloring as a tool to improve Mental Health.
