This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
When I look at my school population of students, the one thing I notice is how culturally diverse they are. I have students who come from Mexico, Africa, Asia, and Polynesian Islands. I work at a Title I school where 91% of the students qualify to receive free lunch.
I love coming to work every day because I get to share my Spanish Language with my students.
In return, they are teaching me about their personal culture. Most of my students come from low-income homes where they experience many struggles daily. But do they show this? No, they show me that the world will not bring them down and that they are excited to learn something new every day when they walk into my room.
I am requesting color ink to support projects when learning Spanish. I am starting a new Spanish program at my school. Our school population is very diverse which includes many students who are Latin American. The color ink will make a difference in my students' learning. This printer will enable me to provide my students with Spanish language materials and practice. Students will be able to feel safe and confident in both their academic and personal lives through the use of this technology because this printer will be local within my classroom and not through outside resources.
A color ink will allow my students the opportunity to bring to life the colors, tapestry, and culture of Latin America.
Also, most of my students do not have technology at home to use and are needing to have access at school and this technology will allow them to make essential connections to their learning.
More than three‑quarters of students from low‑income households
