My Students
I lead a class of curious, smiling, problem solvers that persevere daily despite their social, emotional, and communication challenges due to being on the autism spectrum. My students are dare devils who love to work through new activities and while benefiting from routine, they are always looking for new tasks in the classroom to peak their wide variety of interests. In our class we have many different ways of learning, paying attention, or reacting to things and that is what makes us special! Everyday is a new day full of wonder!
My Project
A quality color printer accessible in the classroom is essential to a classroom with high sensory autism spectrum learners. When technology is not an option for my learners due to fine motor or cognitive delays, printing color resources on demand is essential to their daily learning.
Using real, vivid pictures and imagery as essential to helping my students connect academics to their world.
Color printed, laminated resources are used as textual cards for non verbal students to communicate and learn functional literacy. These textual cards, or PECS, need to be changed often and intermittently so that students can expand their vocabulary daily. A easily accessible color printer is vital to our day!
