My Students

We have an amazing group of talented, dedicated, and diverse students that compete at a high level despite operating on a shoe-string budget. Our students consistently earn high accolades through sheer force of will. Somehow they always rise to the challenge and hold their own against properly funded schools across the country using their ingenuity and ability. With the proper support our school could become a premier STEM program in our city.

As part of the largest high school in the Philadelphia School District, our school is home to over 3,500 students with over 50 languages spoken and just as many socioeconomic backgrounds.

School provides a safe space where students differences are embraced and students can focus on their learning and growth as scientists and as emerging adults.

My Project

Many students struggle to learn science because of the abstract concepts required. In my attempts to improve student understanding and retention of material in my class, it is important that information be expressed via multiple formats. In today's digital world, students are able to access a wealth of information but for the basis of learning, nothing beats the cognitive impact of being able to create the content and draw the connections with your own hands.

By donating to this project you will be provided resources to allow students to access learning through different modalities.

The multiple inputs achieved through the use of these materials will allow me to impact more students and create a greater appreciation for scientific concepts.
