Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Students
I am a special education teacher to 20 amazing students with special needs. I teach in the largest elementary school in the state of CT in an large inner city. I work in a district that has suffered from many budget cuts. My students come from low income families, and qualify to receive free lunch.
My students have a range of disabilities that make their learning styles unique.
My students have developmental delays, learning disabilities, speech and language impairments, other health impairments, and multiple disabilities.
They are a wonderful and challenging group of students of whom I am proud to teach.
My Project
These materials will be used by my students to create beautiful and unique science projects to showcase their learning. Students will learn reading, math and writing through thematic lessons taught throughout the year.
Students will demonstrate their knowledge by creating projects such as reports, dioramas, models, and more.
Materials will be color printed. Students will use the crayons, colored pencils, glue, and paint to construct their very own project. The students will display their creations, and demonstrate their talents and knowledge about each theme they have learned. Some of the themes we have studied thus far are plants, bears, and the rain forest of Costa Rica. The students look forward to studying the planets of our solar system and building a model of the solar system. The acrylic paints will be used to paint the Styrofoam balls to represent each planet.
