Strong. Resilient. Hilarious. Intelligent. These are the words that come to my mind when educators ask me about my students at my high school. These students, each with their unique background stories, struggles, and many successes, come together to form a senior class like no other.
Most of my students come from low income families and are doing their best to lift the burden off their parents and guardians.
They know that with post secondary education, that burden can become so much lighter. Whether a student is military bound, workforce bound, or college bound, myself and the school is here with our full support because we know our students come from a place of love and resiliency.
My Project
The items on this list will help ease the burden for students and their families as the student heads to a four year school. Most of my students are first generation students and have never lived on their own. The microwave and coffee maker will be given to students who are more likely to eat in their dorms to save on meal plans. These items will be able to make the transition from living at home to living in a dorm room easier. This list also includes common school supplies to help students who are attending two year schools be prepared on their first day. The more prepared our students are when they begin, the better they will be throughout the school year.
