This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

What makes our school students special is that they are natural born leaders who come from low-economic families and reside in poor, gang infested neighborhoods, which gang violence and drugs flood the area. Given these circumstances and lack of resources are students often face, our students continue to thrive and excel academically. M. is 5th in the district for our "A-G" rates at 43.2 %, which is excellent for our student demographics. Our students are resilient, hard-working individuals who have high aspirations of achieving in life.

My Project

The college bound students from Mira Monte will be exposed to postsecondary education and be empowered to pursue a higher education, as a result of touring the college campuses and speaking individually to admissions representatives.

Students will also become exposed to both systems of education, University of California and the California States University system.

Students will have the opportunity to receive updated information of the university requirements and be informed of undergraduate major and program opportunities.

Students will conduct field research related to their career field, major, and/or interest and acquire the knowledge necessary to pursue their desired major or career.
