This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My Project
Help our seniors begin a new chapter in their lives as they pursue college and career goals after graduation! Our school hosts a College and Career Signing Day to celebrate the individual successes of our students as they prepare to make their way out into the world.
As part of our College and Career Signing Day celebration, each senior will be entered into a drawing for one of the generous prizes donated by staff members, family, and community partners.
Whether they are headed to a four-year college, community college, trade/vocational school, or serving our country in the armed forces, every student's path matters and deserves individual recognition from our school and community.
In an ideal world, students should experience high school without facing the burdens of financial hardship. However, the reality is that many families suffer financial strain and these hardships are all too visible in the daily lives of our students. Many students shared how their parents/guardians struggled to pay rent and put food on the table, which is why they often came to school lacking basic supplies and even simple comforts like jackets and backpacks.
Our school, the district, and the community rally together to provide basic needs, but there is still a long road to recovery and equity. To that end, with your support, our school hopes to jump-start their new beginnings by providing a few comfort items that will aid in making a positive transition from high school into adulthood.
