My students need totes, rain boots, flash cards and a pipet.
This project expired on September 28, 2015.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
This project is inspired by the Teach for the Planet project "Collecting Bugs to Change the Planet". Water quality is an exciting topic and we have the chance to compare the water chemistry with biological life on our school restoration site.
My students like getting outside.....when they have the proper footwear.
It is necessary for me to get proper waterproof boots for my students so they can wade into science! We will collect samples from the newly restored wetland and compare water quality.
Students will be in the field investigating chemistry and doing bioassessments to study water quality on our school's wetland. We will use this data to propose and implement mitigation projects of their own design. One of the goals is to change polluting behaviors, and inspire future community based action.
My students will have a chance to try and mitigate the pollution that they find and will be able to better explore environmental science issues that are of the most interest and relevance to them.
